I Will Always Love You

I hope you had a lovely Valentine's day, as I did.  Chris and I had a wonderful afternoon with my frisbee class and then we went to dinner and exchanged gifts.

Being married on Valentine's day -- well, being married to my husband on Valentine's day has to be the best thing in the world!

Before the hype of Whitney Houston's death fades, I would like to honor her amazing and blessed voice.

I will confess that every time the nightly news plays even a portion of one of her epic ballads, I start to tear up... that is what her voice could do.

Below is Whitney Houston singing, "I Will Always Love You" and below is Jennifer Houston's tribute, "I Will Always Love You" as she performed at the Grammy Awards:

Thank you, Lord for giving the world such a beautiful voice for a few years.

P.S.  As I was writing this post, and watching clips of Whitney Houston singing this song, I just remember something I probably haven't thought about in 20 years.  Soon after The Bodyguard came out, my sister gave my parents the CD of the soundtrack to The Bodyguard.  It was probably one of the first CDs in our household.  I used to play "I Will Always Love You" from The Bodyguard on a CD player, and sit at the piano and lip sync and pretend to play the piano to that song.  I used to throw my head back the way a coyote howls at the moon as I pretended to hit Whitney's high notes.  I have not remembered that in so many years... Thank you Ms. Houston for sharing your gift with the world.  Rest in Peace
