Bike To School Day!

 Bike to school day!

The kids and I biked 2.5 miles to school yesterday, which was a ton of fun.  It's a good thing the name is "bike to school" day and not "bike home from school" day, because we had several children hitch a ride with Daddy when it came to the up-hill trip home.

I even had to hand off the two littles riding in the bike carrier because decreasing the load by 50lbs made a world of difference as I pedaled up the hill to our house.

Fast Cleaning

Yesterday Hunter and some other kiddos were helping me clean after school for a very special reason... Grammie and Papa were on their way to see us!

They will be with us for a quick visit, and we are SO excited!

Some weeks

I read this the other day, and I almost feel like this has been true ever since I moved to Rangely -- mostly the weeks of barely moving.  Since August, it was my first year at a new job, Hubby's first year at a new job, our children's first year in school here, we moved houses twice, and I juggled graduate classes the entire year.

This has been my weeks... and my year, and is still my year.

Some seasons are longer than others, and longer than you wish they would be.

Wrestling Seasons Begins!

Howard's wrestling season is off to a great start with the Rangely Little Panthers Wrestling Meet yesterday.

He decided to enroll in two brackets -- one in the morning (8 and under) and one in the afternoon (same weight class, but 10 and under).  He took second in the morning bracket, and he ... he learned a lot in his afternoon bracket.

He really wrestled his heart out and we are SO proud of him!

It was also great to see some old friends from Rifle and lots of our new Rangely friends at the tournament.

Traffic Lights

We just spent the day in Grand Junction and Howard just said,

“we’re just not used to traffic lights.”

We've really created some small town kids.

Hogwarts Night!

The kids' school had a fundraiser last weekend where their school became the school from Harry Potter.  I'll be honest, it was a tad confusing for a family with absolutely no experience with Harry Potter... but it was entertaining and incredibly impressive... and now all our children want Harry Potter to be our next read-aloud bedtime story.

Here are some pictures:

State Bound!

After a nail-biting victory for the Lady Panthers, the girls basketball team is headed to STATE!

They were a higher seed for their game on Saturday, so Rangely got to host the Regional Championship game, and it was a TON of fun to cheer them on and watch them pull out a win.

Have I Mentioned?

Have I mentioned the very cold and snowy winter we've been having here in Rangely?

The truth is I LOVE these kinds of winters.  We have had snow on the ground since Thanksgiving, with no signs of it melting any time soon.

In Rifle, the snow would come, and then melt.  Come and then melt -- which basically meant the ground was very muddy for months.

This. Is. An. AWESOME. Winter.

And, these icicles are crazy!
