I've given a pretty complete picture of our spring break adventures... but I have not talked about how we handle hotels with our crew during so many nights on the road.
Well, our children all share a room in hotels... and Hubby and I have an adjoining room.
Our four oldest children all share a room at home now (two bunk beds sets in the room), so thankfully, sharing a room is not a novelty -- having Hunter in their room in a pack-and-play was a novelty, but they all handled it really well.
Because we knew we were spend our first three nights with back-to-back travel, I organized all the clothings into different overnight bags. Hubby knew which one backpack to bring it to a hotel, and it contained all the kids pajamas for that night and clothes for the next day of traveling. That backpack then became the dirty clothes bag for the clothes the kids had just worn during that day of travel. It was the first time we had done that system and it worked VERY WELL!
We had one night where our hotel had one room with two double beds, and and adjoining family room suite with a pull out couch. That night we had only one bathroom and we learned it is preferable to have two restrooms for our crew... we got by, but we definitely noticed the difference.
That night, we pulled one double mattress into the family room suite to be on the floor next to the pull-out bed. The kids thought that was amazingly cool. What can I say -- Hubby and I just bring the "cool".
