Great Easter Weekend

We had a really fun, very busy Easter weekend.

(And I want to add here the caveat that we still have construction going on at our house, so thankfully no workmen were here Saturday or Sunday -- we had a break... but everything still feels a little displaced [and dirty] while renovations are still active.)

There was one local Easter egg hunt this year, which was so great for the kids to participate in.  In past years, there are at least 3 that we know of in our immediate vicinity... then last year there were zero due to COVID... so it was incredibly refreshing and such a blessing to have one egg hunt for children.  The weather was PERFECT and our children had so much fun.  It was also their first time meeting an Easter bunny!

We paint eggs the day before Easter (usually) so they are fresh for longer following Easter.  We also color them and boil them at the same time using the Instant pot -- BEST METHOD EVER!!

The kids helped with the coloring, and then they colored some Easter placemats from Grammie while the eggs cooked (and dyed) and then they decorated them with stickers and glitter.

After egg decorating, we watched some of The Ten Commandments, which was really fun to introduce the kiddos to.  They know the story of Moses, and we didn't make it very far into the movie -- with several stops to work on the eggs some more -- so it was a good mild introduction to this 4.5 hour movie.

Sunday morning at church!  Family pictures before church... and pictures of just the kiddos after church.  Hunter was not having it after church... but those are some of my favorite pictures.  Lee Lee sniffing the Easter lily, Tracey's shoes unbuckled, and Hunter ready for a nap.

In our family, the Easter bunny comes to our home while we're at church (it helps us get to church on time looking our best to not hunt eggs before church).  So when we arrived home... the Easter Bunny had come!!!

Caroline got an extra Easter present from us because she NEEDED a new bike... she had completely outgrown her 2-wheeler from last year, while Howard and Tracey still had plenty of growing room in their bikes from last summer.

They each had an activity in their Easter baskets/bags and the girls all had something to do with excavating fossils, minerals, and mini dinosaurs, so that kept them all busy (and dirty) for awhile.  They have all been REALLY into dinosaurs, fossils, and paleontology since we visited the dinosaur park in Utah.
