Hubby Turns 40!

Today my wonderful Hubby turns 40... and frankly, we are all pretty partied out.

The kids and I have been surprising him for over a week in order to mark his 40th birthday, and we have loved every minute of the surprises and celebrations.

He is so much fun to surprise because he is so surprising.  This man chases his dreams with everything that's in him.  This man believes the world can be a different place, a better place and he works every day toward making that vision a reality.

The kids and I are just thrilled that we get to be along for his ride and that he invests as much in our dreams as he does in his own.

Hubby, you are my world.

Happy Happy 40th Birthday!

May your next 40 years be your best yet.

First Day of Kindergarten!

This girl absolutely rocked her first day of kindergarten!

She never showed even a hint of nerves as we drove the 30 minutes to the bus stop.
She bounded up on the bus with such enthusiasm that I actually had to ask her to come back down and give me a hug goodbye.

The only tears that did happen that morning were Lee Lee's when she realized she wouldn't be riding the bus.

I called the school around 9:00am just to make sure that Tracey made it from the bus to her classroom... and of course she had.

Tracey later told me that a nice girl from the bus made sure she found her classroom.  On the after-school bus trip, the same girl also woke a sleeping Tracey up to tell her that her bus stop was coming up.  What a sweetheart.

I think Tracey is disappointment to hear that she is not buying a hot lunch tomorrow, but she is very excited to return to school.

I am so proud of this courageous little beauty.

First Haircut

Howard was under the weather all week with, what turned out to be a bacterial infection.  As soon as we started him on antibiotics, he was like a new boy.  But, his ongoing fever meant that he missed a day of school on Thursday, so he was home with Grammie, Papa, and Mama.  We took the opportunity for both gentlemen to get haircuts.

This was Howard's first haircut, and he didn't really need one YET, but he was starting to get a little flip at his neck, and I have always wanted my boys to have a clean cut haircut.  He probably wouldn't have desperately needed a haircut for another month... but I haven't had the baby, and I have more hands free now than I will a month from now.  Plus, this served as the special Mama/Howard outing for the two of us to have before the new baby arrives.

We went to a hair place in Rifle and he was such a champ.  He sat still for the haircut and enjoyed a sucker when it was over.  The beautician saved locks of his hair for me... and locks of Papa's hair since they had their hair cut together.

A before picture... Howard's looking a little skeptical

Setting the Record Straight

Howard and Caroline had their 18-month doctor's appointment this week (a little late because we were traveling when they turned 18-months).

One of the questions the practitioner asked me was if both twins could stack three or four blocks on top of each other.  I said that I wasn't sure the twins could stack three or four blocks but they could definitely stack two, and they could also topple stacks of three of four blocks without any problem.

Within forty-eight hours of that appointment, both twins had individually made very large towers of blocks in our family room.  It was as though they heard what I said to the doctor and immediately realized they needed to set the record straight.

Well done, twinzers.  I stand corrected.

Both of the towers grew larger but I couldn't get pictures before they crashed.

My Husband...

My Husband is so many things... and most of them are so perfect for me.

God put so many specific little traits in my husband that I never knew I needed in a mate, and, frankly, I was never looking for in a mate... but God knew how to perfectly design him for me and me for him.

Today my hubby is 35 years old... so young and so handsome and so perfectly suited for me.

He's been on earth for 35 years, but I have only been blessed to know him for a little less than five years.  But in those less than five years, he has made so many of my dreams come true.

Since the time I was a little girl, I have wanted to fall in love with a man who was like no one I had ever met.  I wanted for that man to make me his wife and to love and serve him every day in a way he had never been loved or served before.  I wanted that man to make me a mother and to watch him be the best father in the world to our children.

It blows my mind that this one man, my wonderful husband, could make so many of my dreams come true in such sort time -- that I am so lucky to be married to this amazing man.

I love you, Hubby.

Happy Birthday, Babe!  You have made so many of my dreams come true in this short time you've been in my life and been my husband.  I hope I can make half as many of your dreams come true as you have made mine.
