A Word from Hubs

My hubby doesn't post things publicly very often, and when he does it is almost never introspective... but last night he did both.

Here's a word from Hubs:

God really does give us exactly what we need.
On the busiest week of my educational career, I left my 86 degree office yesterday and came home to change out of my sweat soaked clothes just in time to have our swamp cooler motor quit. It got pretty hot in the house last night, and we’ve only been in this house a little over a week. Houses aren’t supposed to have stuff break like this right after you buy it, so I was hot, literally and metaphorically.
RW came over this morning to help me figure out what was wrong with the swamp cooler (thank you R!). We went to Junction to do a Sam’s run and get all of our parts to fix it. I got the motors switched out, Howard helped me up on the roof tonight, which was a pretty great father son bonding moment, and it’s finally fixed!
After our swamp cooler broke last night, I listened as Brooke read a bedtime story to our kids. As she took a break from the story, my four-year-old asked her, “Why doesn’t Daddy live with us?” Brooke explained to her that I just had a very busy week with the new principal job, and I still lived with them. That broke my heart. 💔
After I got the swamp cooler fixed, I sat down and reflected on today’s events and realized it couldn’t have been planned any better. If the swamp cooler didn’t break, I probably would have worked another 12+ hour day and gone another day not spending much time with my family. Instead, I got to spend all day with them making memories laughing, traveling, shopping, looking for animals, fixing stuff with my son, and just being together. I was upset when it broke, but I’m so glad it did!
Thank you God for giving me today!

The Battle Belongs

Almighty fortress, You go before us
Nothing can stand against the power of our God
You shine in the shadow, You win every battle
Nothing can stand against the power of our God

A Motto

Facebook has a number of links a person can click on... probably one every minute for the rest of his or her life and never see the same one twice.

Sometimes, I see a link that grabs my interest like, "What would your occupation have been in the Wild West?" and its fun to click the link and find out that I would have been a horse thief.  Then, the website wants you to share your occupation with the facebook world so other people click the link to learn their occupation.

I might click on one of these links a month... maybe.  Then, I almost never share the results.  Even if I like the results or find them funny, I almost never share them.  I just don't need the entire facebook world to know that I clicked the link to find out that I would have been a horse thief in the Wild West.

That said, I clicked a link yesterday that said, "Everyone needs a motto, find out what yours is." and I loved the results so much that I took a picture of them, so I would remember them in the future.  I still didn't share it with the facebook world... but I'm going to share it with you.

My motto (according to the facebook website):

Message For Now

My sister-in-law gave us a light-up message board sign for Christmas to hang on our wall.

I change the message on it every other month or so.

Coming into this Spring, this is our message for now:

A Great Time

This was the scene in the car about 30 minutes after we pulled away from Great Wolf Lodge... I'd say that's a clear sign that we all had a great time!

Dinner

Over the weekend, I noticed this was set up (and left) in the room that is rapidly becoming our "toy room", and I thought to myself, "Well... at least someone around here is working on dinner."

New Plan

Here is my newest attempt to keep our lives more organized...

a chore wheel.

This way everyone has a chore and all the animals get fed.

What's everyone's favorite chore, you ask?

Passing out vitamins.

Dr. Suess Week

The kiddos just finished up a special Read Across America Dr. Suess week at school and every day was inspired by a different Dr. Suess book.

Monday, they wore Red and/or Blue for 1 Fish 2 Fish Red Fish Blue Fish

Tuesday they work stripes and/or hats for The Cat in the Hat

Wednesday was Miss-Match Day... which I don't know what book that was based on... they all seem a little miss-matched to me.  Even Mama participated in this day!

Thursday was Mustache day for The Lorax

What a fun way to kick off the month of March... and just two more weeks until Spring Break!

Little Chariots

It surely is a wonder how our little Hunter has become such a good walker given that he is pushed in little chariots so often...
