Very Happy Life

This little boy lives a very happy life... it is not often that some older sibling is not playing with him or helping to keep him happy.

Sanden Family Fun

We had a wonderful week of family fun with my parents and brother and his girlfriend leading up to Thanksgiving.

Fun included a birthday celebration in Vail, dinner out with just the adults (cocktails in our new camper), and trampoline time, and ice skating.

Oh what fun!

... I just realized I already posted a lot of this information and these pictures a few days ago... well, here they are again.

Brady Christopher - 6 Months

Brady turned six months about a week before Thanksgiving, and it was such a happy milestone for our little guy.  He is SO mobile, so happy, and LOVES solid food.  My hubby fondly says that our babies seem to be happier and happier and easier and easier, and Brady really seems to be the happiest so far.

Here is Brady at 6 months of age:

Since he's now 6 months, here is a little glimpse of how he's changed... it feels like he has been in our family all along, and yet these six months have flown in the blink of an eye.

And here is the comparison of all five kiddos at two months of age:
Top left to right - Brady, Lee Lee, Howard
Bottom left to right - Hunter, Caroline, Tracey

Weight:
15 pounds, 6 ounces at his six month check up -- up from 7 pounds, 15.5 ounces at birth

Length:
25.5" long at his check up

Clothing size:
Six-nine month clothing and pajamas... some 12 month clothing because the boy hand-me-downs have been washed so many times that they are little shrunken in size.  I actually had to buy a few Christmas outfits for size 6-9 months because Howard and Hunter were never 6 months at Christmas.  All the boy Christmas clothing I had was newborn or 12 months.

Eating:
Brady eats very well.  He had been eating all breastmilk up to about a week before he turned six months.  Then, I gave him a little taste of frozen blueberries.  Then a little applesauce.  And then he LOVED chewing on a rib-bone for Hunter's 2nd birthday dinner.  He is VERY motivated to get the hang of eating solid food, which makes Mama very happy.  Life really does get easier once the baby starts eating food other than Mama milk

Sleeping:
He sleeps in a playpen in our room, and we are not sleeping through the night yet.  I am REALLY hoping that if we can get some hardy solid food dinners in his belly before bed that he will sleep through the night.  This is usually when we would move our baby out of our room and into the crib in the nursery... ... BUT, Hunter is still very happily loving life in the crib.  So, Brady will stay in our room for the moment.
From the time Brady started rolling over (which was over a month ago now) he LOVES sleeping on his stomach.  This makes me very nervous as his Mama, but the experts say to lay a baby on his back to sleep, and then when he begins rolling over on his own, he is old enough to sleep on his stomach if that is how he positions himself.  So, when he rolls onto his stomach in his sleep, that is how he sleeps.
One night this month, Caroline came into our room to use the restroom, and she saw him on his stomach and she quietly tried to roll him onto his back because she remember that he was not supposed to be sleeping his tummy.  Her sweet kindness woke up both Brady and me, but she is such a kind and loving big sister that she would be cognizant of that in the middle of the night.

New Things/Discoveries/Accomplishments
  • He can roll over from back to front, and back to front.
  • He loves tummy time.  He does not crawl per se yet... but he DOES NOT stay in one place on the floor.  He either rolls like a log across the floor, or moves his arms side to side like a rainbow.  His legs kind of stay put, but his head and torso go from facing one direction to facing another direction.
  • Sitting up for brief periods of time
  • Loving solid foods
  • Loving to chew on spoons and rubber straws
  • First time being left at home with a sitter (other than his baby-sitter who watches him on Mama's work days).  He stayed home with Hunter and a high school baby-sitter while Mama took the big kids to the Momster Mash Halloween Party at the kids school.  He also stayed home with Grammie and Papa while Mama and Daddy had two evening dates out -- Hubby's work party, and a date including dinner out and a trip to the local hot springs
