Capturing the Simple: June 2013

From top to bottom, and left to right:

• In June we celebrated our wonderful fathers on Fathers' Day
• Lloyd Carr competed in the Vail Go-Pro Dock Dogs competition.  It was a fun weekend.
• Hubby and I celebrated the end of the school year, beginning of summer, and Hubby being awarded a district teacher award with a dinner in Greeley before we parted ways for the month.
• Me made the most of our limited time together this month and appreciate each other all the more
• June 25 marked our 2nd wedding anniversary
• I completed the June graduate class and am done with the coursework required for this O&M certification... now 9 weeks of practicum

• Lloyd turned 2 years old on June 25... he has really grown into the best dog!
• Grad school involved a drop-off assignment where I was dropped-off in a residential neighborhood blindfolded and had to determine my orientation, and then find my way to a specific address using my skills and a white cane... this picture shows how I studied for this exam

Welcome, July!

Great Weekend

I had such an amazing weekend with my hubby!!!

It is amazing how being away from him and our home just makes limited time together SOOO great.  Our weekend had a little of everything -- time outside, time with others, time together, time with Lloyd, time working, time playing, time sleeping, time snuggling.  We just had a perfect weekend.

We spent Friday and Saturday up in Vail at the Go-Pro Mountain games were our Lloydey competed in the Doc Dogs jumping competitions.  I had fun playing with the Burst Mode photo app that takes 50 frames per second.

He competed in four competitions and he came home with four medals -- one for being a competitor, one for third place, one for second place, and one for first place.  I know, if I were to post this picture, I would include #whyisthisnecessaryinlife and #whopaysforthesethings

Anyway, in addition to the Doc Dog jumping, we saw human sporting events including extreme kayaking, fly fishing, mountain biking, and a mud run.   The temperature was a little cool, but all in all, the days were beautiful.

 Then, on Sunday, hubby and I worked.  I have a presentation due on Tuesday, and hubby is so computer savvy that he helped me create an interactive page for my classmates to interact and brainstorm with my presentation.  I am SO grateful for his help and now SOOO excited for my presentation on Tuesday.

I'm ready for my next week of class even though it means leaving my hubby and home for another week.  Now that I've started the class, I would never want to not finish.

Treasuring the Present: Final Days of Vacation

I haven't blogged the past few days mostly because Hubby and I have been savoring our first days back in Rifle and our last days of our summer vacation before we start another school year of work.

I have been exhausted the past few nights so blogging didn't happen, but now I'd like to share how we spent our past few days... treasuring the end of our summer!

Saturday and Sunday, we were pageant parents and we took Lloyd up to the Eagle Canine Days for another Dock Dog competition.  Last weekend, in St. Louis, Lloyd's longest jump was 18'3"... this weekend his longest jump was 22'!!!!  :-D

They measure the jumps where his tail meets his rump... this jump wasn't his best.

This turned out to be a picture of my hubby because Lloyd jumped out of the shot.

We love this pup!

And our little Champ tied for 3rd place in the Masters Finals!
We have high Olympic hopes for him -- Rio 2016 or Bust!  :-D

We were so proud and we had a great time.

Monday, Chris and I both had long to-do lists... and we totally disregarded them to play hooky together knowing that our days of summer are dwindling away and hooky will not be an option soon.

I started taking these pictures because Hubby was laying with his head on my stomach and then Lloyd brought his head right next to Chris' and I thought it was adorable.

 
But after a few shots, things started to get silly...

Lloyd started licking Chris' ears, neck, head, cheek... we were laughing pretty hard!

After the lick-fest was over, Lloyd relaxed and just looked cute, as usual.

Our kitty-princess always looks restful and adorable!

Chris and I just have so much fun together.  We had an awesome summer traveling, and then we come home and I still get to do everything with my best friend.  Today we played hooky and went to the grocery store.  It almost reminds me of college.  In college I could always find company -- taking a walk, going to the store, watching a movie, joining a club -- there was always someone who wanted to join in the fun.  Marriage is just the most awesome thing in the world.

I love my hubby!  :-D

Introducing Lloyd, the Dock Dog...

We have a full-fledged competing Dock-Dog, and his name is Lloyd Carr Miller!

Chris, Lloyd and I spent yesterday afternoon at the St. Charles County Fair in Missouri at the Gateway Dock Dog Competition.  I want to share lots of details, but we got in really late last night, and were up very early this morning all in the name of Dock Dog Competition.

I will share that our little Lloyd, in his first ever competition jumped 18'3'', which was enough to win 3rd place in his heat and 6th place over all in the Sr. Jumpers Bracket.  We are going back tomorrow because Lloyd, as of last night, had made the finals.
