Tracey Ann - 8 Month

Oh, my eight months!

I'm a little late on this 8 month post... but my goodness, where is the time going?

Weight:
I'm not sure... I should probably step on the scale with her.  She's the perfect size.

Length:
Not much longer than last month -- she still fits in her six month sleepers length-wise.  She looks SO tall because she loves to stand up, but she can't have grown that much because she hasn't outgrown her six-month sleepers.

Clothing size:
She wears six, nine, and twelve month clothes -- not so much based on what fits, but more based on the weather.  I've started buying twelve month warm clothes, so on cold days, she wears twelve month clothes, but on warmer days, she's still wearing six month clothes.  She doesn't have that many nine-month clothes, so I try to put her in them when they're clean and I notice them.

Eating:
She is such a good littler eater.  She eats breast milk and solid foods... and she isn't really picky which she eats.  I'd say she averages about 20 ounces of breast milk each day (five in the morning, ten during the day, five before bed), and then two-three solid means.  Her solid meals are made up of fruits, veggies, meats, cheese, and water.  As of her 8 month birthday, no toofies (the Sanden name for teeth) yet.

Sleeping:
Our little munchkin finally got her own brand new baby crib this month!!!!  What a milestone for us as a family -- nights in her own nursery, in her own crib!  Also, she is a really great sleeper.  We are very fortunate.  Don't get me wrong, she does not sleep all night every night, but we can generally count on her sticking to her schedule.  At the end of this month she adjusted herself from three naps/day to two naps/day, and then she sleeps about ten hours/night.

New Accomplishments:
  • She is in the process of going from an army crawl to a traditional crawl, but she hasn't quite figured it out yet -- give her another week
  • She is trying to pull herself up... can't quite make it yet, but again, give her another week or two
  • Putting her pacifier in her mouth on her own
  • She now will rest her head on our shoulders, which she hasn't done since she was able to hold her own head up.  But now, when she's sleepy, or just cuddly, she will rest her head on my shoulder, and it is the best feeling in the world!
  • She is just on the brink of independently moving from her tummy to a sitting-up position.  She can do it in the bathtub, because her feet and legs slip so easily, but she hasn't done it on dry ground yet
  • I'm going to officially write "giggling" for new accomplishments this month.  Laughing has been something so slow and gradual to develop that it sort of snuck up on us...and all of a sudden we realized she was laughing, and we weren't really sure when she started.  She would sort of startle herself and cackle at five months, then gasp excitedly at six months... now, we can very confidently say she does giggle and laugh.  I still see the Sanden sense of humor in her as she doesn't laugh at just anything, but when she finds something funny, she laughs and giggles.
  • First AIRPLANE trip -- more of an accomplishment for me than for Tracey Ann, but we both survived!

Likes:
  •  Bath time -- bath time is a great time for us each evening and we have a blast
  • Trying new food
  • Mama and Daddy
  • Grammie and Papa
  • Lloyd and Lexie
  • Being outside
  • Being a part of what's going on (case and point -- she wanted to be a part of the bridal shower that Grammy and Mama hosted for Mama's childhood best friend.  It was late, but Tracey Ann wanted NOTHING to do with bed... she was perfectly content to stay up socializing with the guests, like a perfect little lady)
  • Seeing Daddy at his school
  • Trying to pull herself up
  • Crawling/climbing all over whatever she can (our legs, her toys, cushions, Lloyd)
  • Standing up with our help
  • Miss Karen (our Nanny)
  • Shoes and feet -- this little girl will crawl in order to grab and eat any shoe or person's foot she can find

Dislikes:
  • Not much this month... she is such a happy easy-going baby girl

Places She Went:
  •  First trip to Ohio (her 20th state)
  •  First time to a bridal shower

  • Attended another wedding
  • First "Girls Weekend" with Mama and Grammy

  • First Michigan football games -- she didn't attend them but she dressed for them and watched them with Mama -- they are depressing

Special Memories:
  • Introducing Tracey Ann to my childhood best friend, "Aunt" Abbie

  • First "Girls Weekend" with Grammy
