Tracey will turn five in about two weeks and she received a few birthday presents from family while we were in St. Louis. One of which was a jewelry box with her name on it. It is also a music box that plays music and has a ballerina who twirls when the box is opened.
Today, she took it upon herself to find anything and everything in the house that she thought belonged in her jewelry box. This included some actual child jewelry, and lots of hair bows, headbands, hair ties, and chap stick.
She then proceeded to entertain herself by making herself "fancy". It started with necklaces and hair bows, and spread to her chosen outfit for the day, and on the the purse that she carried, and the voice in which she spoke for the remainder of the morning.
I think this was largely inspired by the Disney show, "Fancy Nancy." Nancy loves to dress up and frequently uses big words like "Stupendous" and then says, "That's a fancy word for awesome."
Tracey kept saying, "I am FANCY" (and she said fancy in a very hoity-toity voice) then she would say, "That's a fancy word for fancy."
What a character.
