Word-Filled Wednesday: Peter with a twist

This morning was a little nuts, and so I didn't have time for Word-Filled Wednesday. I figured, No big deal, I'll just make my way to the site and be an observer today instead of a participant. Well, God had a plan for a different kind of Word-Filled Wednesday to bless me today.

I have not shared much about my boyfriend Paul other than to have our picture and request for prayers in the sidebar of The Mountain Brooke, but I received this email from him regarding Word-Filled Wednesday. Consider this a Wednesday posting from both of us.

Babe,
I went to your blog to look for your Word-Filled Wednesday... but did not see it there. So I thought I'd send you a couple of passages I read earlier today.
I know you are not my wife... but you will eventually be wed to some lucky guy so I thought this Scripture was good for you:

1 Peter 3: 1-6
Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. They were submissive to their own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her master. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.

And I have always like this passage:

2 Peter 1: 3-11
His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.

Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I had read this passage from 2nd Peter after praying and asking God how I can become conformed to the image of Christ and have His righteousness in my life. And the answer was just staring me in the face: "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness."

I already have everything I need... His divine power. This enables us to participate in His divine nature!! And He also gives us goals to pursue: "add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love." And He promises that these things "will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."

What a wonderful promise! I hope God blesses you through these words today!

MWAH!

Paul

BTW... my response to these Scriptures from 2nd Peter are to seek ways to add to my faith goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love.
