In this new life of four little ones under four years of age, our family definitely has a lot to learn.
The lesson of yesterday is that... at this point, no day goes smoothly, but some days legitimately require "all hands on deck."
The morning was quiet, and dare I say normal, with my parents here to help, and Addallee's ten day doctor's appointment... and naptime was quiet... then the children awoke.
Within five minutes of waking up from her nap, Caroline began vomiting... and she would continue to do so for hours. No question, it would be incredibly difficult if Howard and Tracey had also come down with the sudden stomach bug, but in the case of yesterday, they were not only doing fine, they were bouncing off the walls.
So, yesterday afternoon was spent with Caroline repeatedly throwing up, and both she and I going through multiple outfits, and my mom running many loads of laundry for us. Also, any minute Caroline wasn't in my lap, Addallee was in my lap to nurse. And, Howard and Tracey were very aware of the less-than-normal supervision with the distraction of their two needy sisters... so mischief and accidental knocking each other down and crying were at an all-time high.
I finally had to call Hubby home from an after-school meeting because we just needed more hands and more people to help supervise the two healthy kids, and who could cuddle our sick Caroline. My parents were both more than happy to console Caroline, but she only wanted Mama or Daddy (which we all completely understood, but it didn't make the situation any easier when Mama was the only one who could help both Caroline and Addallee).
Here's hoping for a better day and night today because yesterday and last night were some of our roughest and craziest (and not in a good way) parenting moments thus far.
