For Easter, instead of Easter baskets, the children received flower pots full of treats.
I explained to the kids on Easter that we would paint the pots and then plant flowers in them.
Unfortunately, between some cold, rainy weather and my obligations to the Go Gray in May Brain Tumor Awareness Event, and other Spring events, it took some time for me to fulfill this promise to the kiddos.
But, we were delightfully able to finish the painting and planting project this week.
We spray painted the pots white -- several coats.
Then, in old clothes (because the paint is not waterproof -- they are outdoor pots after all), all four children got to paint their pots.
Finally, a few days ago, we planted some plants that may or may not be nearly dead due to a cold snap we suffered last week. We will see if they survive the weather and our amateur planting skills.
We planted marigolds and some herbs - pictures to come.
It took several days, and even more weeks... but it really was a fun project.
