Five Minutes: Dance

This week Chris and I are traveling, but I still wanted to participate in this weeks Gypsy Mama's Five Minute prompt and Dance.

GO

When I think about Dance, country music lyrics immediately come to mind:

"I'd could have missed the pain, but I'd have had to miss the dance."

"May I have this dance for the rest of my life?"

"We danced out there on that empty ballroom floor, the music and the lights turned way down low.  The music played, we held each other close."

When I think of meaningful dances in my life, I think of the dance that my husband and I danced at our wedding reception.  We danced to Moon River.  Do you know that song?

"Two drifters off to see the world; there's such a lot of world to see.  We're after the same rainbow's end waitin' round the bed my Huckleberry Friend, Moon River and me."

I just love those lyrics... two drifters off to see the world.  And that is exactly what Chris and I love to do, and it is what we are doing right now.  We are currently on a trip to see baseball parks, national museums and monuments, historical landmarks, old friends and new places.  If we can get there, we want to see it.  I love the adventures we find dancing through life.

Oh, Dancing Through Life is a great song also a great song from the musical WICKED.  Do you know that song?  Great song.

Another thing about dancing I love to think about is my parents dancing together.  They danced so much the night of our wedding and they looked so beautiful dancing together.  So many guests commented that night and still comment how wonderful and elegant they looked dancing.

This is my favorite picture of my parents dancing.
This picture of my mom and dad dancing really is worth 1000 words.

  1. I've always loved Moon River (Andy Williams, who made this Mancini gem famous, has been my favorite singer since I was a kid)... makes me smile to see that as your wedding dance. Sweet post. :) When I had the unexpected opportunity to interview Mr. Williams, he told me what this song has always meant to him, how Mancini wrote a special arrangement for him that I love most...dreamy sound to it.
